This is REALLY interesting, and I am excited to see what people come up with.
Check it out.....
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Abstract works of art have designs, shapes or colors that do not look like specific physical objects. As such, abstracts are a lot harder to understand than representational works of art. When you look at an abstract work of art, you often have no idea what it is you are actually seeing.

In general, there are two types of abstract works of art. The first type of portrays objects that have been "abstracted" (taken) from nature. Although what you see may not look realistic, it is close enough that you can, at least, get an idea of what you are looking at.

Example:

A second type of abstract, sometimes referred to as "pure" abstract art, is even more obtuse. They do not reflect any form of conventional reality: all you see are shapes, colors, lines, patterns, and so on. In some cases, the design itself might be pleasing to the eye, and we might look upon the painting as nothing more than a decoration.

Example:

Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to create an "abstract" layout - move outside of your "box" and attempt to create something that people have to really look at to understand. Have fun with this - let your creativity flow!!

The participation gift for this challenge will be a coupon good for $2.50 off of your next order (minimum order $5.00) from Babette's store.

This challenge will run from 1-15-08 thru 2-14-08.
HOPE YOU'LL JOIN IN ON THE FUN!
